Sunday November 20th, 2011 18:11 Burberry Prorsum Spring 2012 RTW

Winter has not officially begun, but I’m thinking about spring fashion. The inspiration for this Burberry Prorsum Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection was drawn from Picasso and Africa. Special attention is paid to beading, demonstrating a tribal edge. I like the look of the wedge sandals, large eyelets on the dresses and pleated crepe skirts. I am not; however, a fan of the brimmed hats. The saffron, deep purple, asparagus and navy all work well together. (Photos from style.com)

Saturday October 15th, 2011 16:28 Bar Taco

I am so excited to report to you about my new favorite restaurant, Bar Taco in Stamford. There has been one in Port Chester for a while, but this Mexican restaurant (with a West Coast, American spin) is the best thing to come to Stamford since MC Hammer this summer at Alive @ 5 (no, I lied, it’s definitely better)! So what’s so great about Bar Taco, you may ask? Their fresh ingredients, a la carte style dining, sangria and awesome tacos, of course! Choose from chicken, portobello, red snapper (my personal favorite), chorizo or steak tacos (they’re small, but very reasonably priced $2.50/ea or 3 for $7). Other must-tries include: the guacamole, red snapper cervice, and the rosted corn side dish (it has a kick to it!) The interior looks like the inside of a Hollister, complete with large baskets draped over the hanging ceiling lamps and photos of surfers and horseback riders on the beach. Give it a try, I promise that you will not disappointed.

Wednesday September 14th, 2011 14:17 Rodarte Spring ’12

The inspiration for this collection was oddly provided by both Sleeping Beauty and Vincent van Gogh. An anomaly, perhaps–but definitely provocative and bold. Dresses from this collection mimicked 50s prom dresses, nipped at the waste, attention to the shoulders and flaring hems. (Photos from style.com)

Saturday August 20th, 2011 14:32 Volta Gelateria Creperia

Volta Gelateria Creperia, a new addition to Stamford’s expanding list of restaurants and cafes, shares an owner with the well renowned Capriccio (located just across the street from Volta). It is a great place to go for a contemporary European cafe feel, a quick espresso or authentic gelato. Their menu offerings include basics (but delicious nonetheless) such as salads, sweet and savory crepes, sandwiches and waffles. Although the interior is small, it is cozy. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick meeting or a fast snack/lunch rather than a full meal.

Monday July 25th, 2011 14:18 European Travels

Hello Readers!

I apologize for my hiatus from Food and Couture! I was backpacking in Europe from the middle of June to the middle of July. I have returned, but I am still getting my bearings. We will be up and running again shortly.

To hold your attention in the meantime here are some highlights from my travels to Ireland, France, Italy and Spain.
